Riparian Management and Conservation:

During 2001-2003, Symmetree worked as part of the Coast Information Team to develop A Hydroriparian Decision Guide, which will use risk criteria for key hydroriparian functions at the landscape and watershed levels to assist planners in managing to protect hydroriparian ecosystems in the BC Central Coast, North Coast and Haida Gwaii.

In 2001 Symmetree authored the report entitled A Comparison of Riparian Protection Approaches in the Pacific NW and British Columbia - Jan. 2001, for the Forest Stewardship Council BC Regional Standards Team, and the Coast Forest Conservation Initiative.

In 2002 Symmetree compiled a Best Management Practices Handbook, for Riparian Restoration in BC: Recommended Riparian Zone Silviculture Treatments – A working draft. For the BC Ministry of Forests and the Ministry of Water, Land, and Air Protection.

In 1996-1999 we conducted riparian ecosystem assessments in the Nass River Valley, several; watersheds near Zeballos on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, and in the Squamish River System.
